REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SALATIGA -- The Salatiga City Government will not allow schools in its area to hold trials or limited face-to-face learning (PTM) in schools. In addition to the multi-tiered public activity restrictions (PPKM) status which is still at level 4, the Salatiga City Government will also first complete the Covid-19 vaccination program for Salatiga City residents whose coverage has now reached 91 percent.

So that the implementation of PTM in schools in the Salatiga City area is planned to be carried out in mid-September 2021. " However, until now the Salatiga City Government continues to carry out various preparations in order to hold PTM at the school," said Salatiga Mayor, Yuliyanto, in Salatiga, Central Java, Friday (27/8).

The city of Salatiga, explained Yuliyanto, continues to prepare various infrastructures to hold PTM in schools. In addition, the mayor wants the plan to start the PTM in line with the completion of the vaccination program which has now reached 91.7 percent and the decline in daily cases of Covid-19.

The city of Salatiga, according to the mayor, is actually really looking forward to PTM in schools being able to be implemented. Because it has been too long for students to study from home with various problems and obstacles. "We are worried that there are characters that are lost and there is a risk of a lost generation in the world of education," he explained.

Therefore, the Salatiga City Government continues to carry out various more mature preparations, especially related to PTM supporting facilities and infrastructure during the pandemic. At the same time, accelerating vaccination for children aged 12 to 17 years.

Yuliyanto want at least for the first vaccine to have reached 50 percent of the number of students. Currently, the Salatiga City Government is still waiting for the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine from the central government.

With the acceleration of the vaccination, at least in the next two months herd immunity will be achieved in Salatiga City. "Hopefully everything goes well and according to our plan, so that life can go well and the economy will rise soon," he said.
