REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, --- The warship of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) submarine Nanggala-402 was declared submerged and detected at a depth of 850 meters in the sea. Indonesia is experiencing difficulties to lift and evacuate the submarine from the deep of the sea.

The Indonesian Army Navy (TNI AL) found several parts or pieces belonging to the submarine KRI Nanggala-402. One of them, a cooler pipe wrapper made by Korea which is believed to belong to KRI Nanggala-402.

"We found several pieces that are believed to be parts or components of the submarine belonging to KRI Nanggala-402. We are sure because this is reinforced by the statements of experts and former TNI soldiers crew of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine," said the Chief of the Navy (KSAL) Admiral Yugo Margono during an online press conference on Saturday (24/4).

He explained that the items found, namely the torpedo tube pellor, a Korean-made cooling pipe wrapper, submarine periscope lubricant, mats for submarine crews to pray, and spilled diesel and sponges.

The Indonesian Navy stated that there was no explosion, but there were cracks from the ship during that time. The TNI stated that the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine was already in a still situation and did not make a sound.

Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Information Center, Maj. Gen. Achmad Riad, said that only sonar searches could detect the position of KRI Nanggala. The TNI conducts searches in all areas of the waters of North Bali.

The Nanggala military submarine carried a crew of 53 and lost contact in Balinese waters in the early hours of Wednesday while conducting a torpedo firing exercise.

The Nanggala submarine was built at Germany's Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft (HDW) in 1977 and joined the Indonesian Navy in 1981.
