REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA --- A number of schools were burnt down and a teacher was killed in Puncak Regency, Papua Province of Indonesia, on Thursday (April, 8). The police are investigating the arson and murder case which targets the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB) as the perpetrator.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Kombes Pol Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, confirmed that the Armed Criminal Group or KKB burned the Jambul Elementary School Building, 1 Middle School (SMPN 1), Beoga 1 High School (SMAN 1), and a teacher house in Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Thursday (8/4). 

This burning incident was known by police after receiving reports from the local community. "Police personnel came to the TKP and saw the buildings of SD Jambul, SMPN 1 and SMAN 1 Beoga as well as the teacher's house had been burned," said Musthofa Kamal when confirmed, Friday (9/4).

Police estimate that the perpetrators of the arson were from the Sabinus Waker group. This group was previously suspected of shooting a teacher to death.

Regarding the current political situation and conditions in Beoga District, said Musthofa Kamal, the police can still control those circumstances. Police will take law enforcement steps against the arsonists.
