China's SOEs Minister Challenged Erick Thohir

There has been a change over the past year to Indonesian SOEs, a comprehensive reform

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs/BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir received a challenge from the Chinese SOE Minister regarding the target of Indonesian SOEs to break through the Fortune Global 500. 

Erick Thohir also feels challenged and targets that in the next three years four SOEs will be included in the Top 500 Fortune Global Company.

Erick Thohir explained that when discussing to increase cooperation between the two ministries, he was challenged by the Chinese BUMN Minister. The Chinese BUMN Minister said that if currently there were 48 Chinese BUMNs that could be included in the Top Fortune Global Companies, Indonesia would only have two listed SOEs.

"Something intrigued me, my counterpart is targeting if China can make 48 state companies into the top 500, why only two of Indonesia? I really can't say what kind of target, but I say in the next three years it can be double," said Erick. from Wuyi, Fujian, Friday (2/4).

Professionals and businessmen in China are aware that there has been a change over the past year to Indonesian SOEs in the so-called comprehensive reform. According to Erick, changes to Indonesian SOEs could be the capital to build good cooperation between the two ministries, by improving the value chain that was not yet maxim
