REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR --- The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) strongly condemns the suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral Church, South Sulawesi, Sunday (28/3).

"MUI strongly condemns the incident of this explosion which has caused fear in the midst of society and has resulted in casualties," said Deputy Chairman of MUI KH Anwar Abbas.

The perpetrator's actions cannot be tolerated because they are very inhumane and contrary to the values ​​of any religious teachings. MUI urged the Police to act quickly to arrest the perpetrators of the explosion.

A suicide bombing rocked the grounds of the Makassar Cathedral Church on Sunday. This bomb attack was carried out when the church congregation was about to finish the service.

The suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral Church killed one person and injured 14 others. One of the alleged perpetrators was the suicide bomber.

The police said that at least 14 people were injured as a result of this explosion. The victim, who came from church security and congregants, has now received medical treatment.

A total of three victims were rushed to the Stela Maris Hospital in Makassar. All three suffered wounds to the neck, chest, face, hands and feet. Meanwhile, the victim from the security forces suffered injuries to his stomach and head.
