Indonesia Launches SEA Today's English News Portal

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir and Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio conducted a soft launch and witnessed the premiere of the English language news channel, Southeast Asia Today or SEA Today in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/10).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coinciding with the commemoration of Youth Pledge Day (Hari Sumpah Pemuda), Minister of State Owned-Company Erick Thohir and Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio held a soft launch and witnessed the premiere of the English language news channel, Southeast Asia Today or SEA Today in Jakarta (28/10). 

Also attending the event were Deputy Minister of BUMN II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, President Commissioner of Telkom Rhenald Kasali and President Director of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) Ririek Adriansyah and his staff.

Coinciding with the commemoration of Youth Pledge Day, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir and Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio held a soft launch and witnessed the premiere of the English language news channel, Southeast Asia Today or SEA Today in Jakarta (28/10). Also attending the event were Deputy Minister of BUMN II Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, President Commissioner of Telkom Rhenald Kasali and President Director of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) Ririek Adriansyah and his staff.

SEA Today is a news channel targeting an international public audience, which is managed by PT Metra Digital Media (MDM) as a subsidiary of Telkom which is engaged in digital content media.

In his remarks, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir appreciated Telkom's support through the presence of SEA Today. "It is time for us to convey the true news about Indonesia to the world. It is time for us to be seen by the world. It is time for us to rise up, like the youths who rose to unite Indonesia on October 28, 1928, ”said Erick in an official statement, Wednesday (28/10).

The Minister of Tourism & Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio also conveyed the same thing. SEA Today is expected to be a new means of strengthening public communication about tourism and Indonesia's creative economy to international audiences.

"It is hoped that this channel can become an extension of information regarding the potential of nature, culture and the creative economy that can attract tourists to foreign investors. The challenge in the future is how we package the material into interesting communication content to be conveyed," Wishnutama said.

SEA Today is broadcast through various digital channels, such as IndiHome Interactive TV, UseeTV GO application, UseeTV.com website, Maxstream application, SEA Today application, Youtube SEA Today News and website www.seatoday.com. The first broadcast that was broadcast live was the SEA Morning Show, which is present every day from 06.00-09.00 WIB. Served in English, the SEA Morning Show opens the morning with current events, live reports from the scene, talk shows, performances & features from Indonesia, Southeast Asia and the world.

"SEA Today is part of Telkom Group's efforts through its subsidiary, MD Media, in expanding its business, especially digital content providers. Hopefully SEA Today can become a channel that brings Indonesia's name to the world, providing news that is not only fast, but also precise and accurate," he said.
