REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) - Ma’ruf Amin national campaign team (TKN) Erick Thohir denied any information which says there was early result of 2019 election vote counting abroad. He stressed that in accordance with Election Law, all votes will be counted simultaneously.
“These fake news that we have reminded public to be aware. Don’t believe easily, it was made from a certain group that wants to take advantage of the situation,” Erick said on Wednesday.
Erick said people must be more concerned about many informations circulated, especially in this political year. He said people should stick together to maintain unity and peace.
He also asked people to believe in official election organizers, both during voting and the final vote count. Erick said all parties must respect the election result without any threat.
Indonesian citizens abroad will vote their candidates earlier, in accordance with Article 167 Law No. 7/2017 on General Election. They will vote until April 14, but their votes will be counted simultaneously on the same day as in the country. All votes will be recapitulated on April 17.
Meanwhile, General Election Commission (KPU) also said that there was no early vote counting of 2019 election abroad. According to KPU commissioner, Pramono Tantowi Ubadi, the vote count had not been done, so there was no early result yet.
