West Java's MUI disapprove action to dismiss revival service at Sabuga

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) of West Java Rachmat Safei said all parties should put tolerance first in reacting to the Joint Regulation Letter (SKB) of the Three Ministers No. 9 of 2006 and No. 8 of 2006 regarding of worship. "But, tolerance among religious believers must also in accordance with the existing rule, not to against the rule," he said to reporters on Wednesday.

Rachmat asked all parties not giving judgement in a rush. There should be attempts to have explaination before judging. "I felt sorry for what happened at Sabuga on Tuesday afternoon. Whatever it was, it should not be happened like that. All parties should communicate well," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil reiterated religious activities are guaranteed in the Constitution. He thought the problem regarding dismissal of revival service (KKR) at Sabuga happened due to dynamics in coordination within related parties. "Bandung government apologized for the inconvenience and hopefully in the future such event could be coordinated much better," he said through his Instagram account.

West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan called all parties to refrain from action that could potentially interfere with the harmonious relations among religious believers. He urged the people to respect each others. "I already had the chronological of the event, but in order to honor the one and the other, we better focus on making the atmosphere even better," he said to reporters at the State Palace on Wednesday.
