REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Association of Indonesian House and Residential Developers (Apersi) has called on the government to increase the target for subsidized house development in 2019. Apersi chairman Junaidi Abdillah conveyed his wish here on Thursday.

"We hope an additional target would be set for subsidized house development, especially those under the FLPP (Housing Finance Liquidity Facility) and the SSB (interest rate margins)," Abdillah noted after meeting with Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

According to Abdillah, the additional target will allow residents from the low-income group to purchase a house.

"The demand for subsidized houses has increased. I have urged him (Vice President Jusuf Kalla) to increase the budget," he stated, adding that the target for the construction of subsidized houses should be increased to 300 thousand units in 2019.

"If we can construct 267 thousand houses this year, it should be increased (in 2019) to 300 thousand units," Abdillah stated.

Bekasi and Tangerang recorded the highest demand for subsidized houses in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), with swift development of industrial estates in the two regions.

A 36-type subsidized house is priced at Rp148 million.
