Retno noted that Indonesia's rich cultural heritage allows the country to develop creative industries, fashion, culinary, arts and crafts, and entertainment. These sectors have become an anchor for the Indonesian economy, which helps the nation to remain strong in the face of global economic crisis.

"We have more than enough creative modalities from 700 ethnic groups throughout the archipelago," she remarked, adding that the synergy between related parties is needed to establish Indonesia as a creative economic modality in the region.

"We really understand the need for synergy; more precisely, the synergy of Penta-Helix is needed to bring together academics, businesses, communities, as well as the government and the media," Retno explained.

This synergy is useful for developing healthy environmental regulations and ecosystems.

"With this kind of synergy, I am confident that Indonesia will be able to achieve all impossible things," she asserted.

The government of Indonesia has encouraged creative economy in multilateral realm through a series of World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from Nov 6 to 8, 2018.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) commenced the WCCE in Nusa Dua, Bali, based on a statement from Foreign Ministry received here on Wednesday.

The first global-scale conference on creative economy is a concrete step taken by the Government of Indonesia to mainstream creative economic issues at the global stage.

WCCE is intended to be a platform that bridges creative industry actors, government, and relevant stakeholders in developing the creative economy.

The WCCE 2018 Indonesia, held under the theme "Inclusively Creative," wants to convey the message to the world that amidst economic uncertainty and trade wars, Indonesia comes up with an innovative idea which is proven to be crisis-proof and without limitations on age, gender, and borders, termed 'the Creative Economy.'
