REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A Taiwanese narcotics drug dealer identified as Huang Jhong Wei was killed after being shot during a joint operation by the customs office and anti-narcotics agency BNN. The incident took place at 8:30 p.m. local time on Thursday at Jala Lodan Raya, Pintu Air Ancol, North Jakarta.

"Suspect Huang Jhong Wei died after being shot. Since he resisted arrest and attempted to escape, officers took firm action by shooting him in order to neutralize him, and he died," BNN law enforcement deputy Inspector General Arman Depari noted in a text message received here on Friday.

Meanwhile, Sadikin and Akbar Rifa'ie, the two other suspects, who are Indonesian citizens, have been arrested.

BNN and the customs agency initially received information of a possible transaction of narcotic drugs that would be delivered by car in Ancol, North Jakarta.

"Huang Jhong Wei and Sadikin were caught following the seizure of an online transportation service car bearing license plate number B 1423 TOX driven by Akbar Rifa'ie," Depari stated.

During a search of the car, two bags of methamphetamine, each containing 25 packs weighing 5.1 kilograms in total, were found, he pointed out.

"Following developments in the case involving suspect Sadikin at the Taman Anggrek Tower Apartment, officers discovered non-narcotic evidence," Depari noted.

Sadikin along with the items of evidence are still under BNN's investigation, while the body of Wei has been taken to a police hospital in Kramatjati, East Jakarta.
