Wiranto invites TNI, Police to discuss import of weapons

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto held a coordination meeting with all related institutions to discuss the regulation on purchase of weapons, on Friday (October 6/). 

The State Intelligence Agency (BIN), National Narcotics Agency (BNN), National Counter-Terroism Agency (BNPT), PT Pindad, and a number of related government officials also attended the meeting.

"We want to solve the import of weapons issue that has become speculation in the society," said Wiranto at Ministry of Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, in Jakarta, Friday (October 6).

Wiranto explained the discussion focused on regulations, the use, purchase and procurement of weapons. So, he asserted all could be arranged clearly and not become speculation springing up in the public.

He also assessed the unclear speculation would disturb public. Wiranto said it could affect national stability.

"We need tranquility, peace, and togetherness, so today we will finish the discussion, as I promised," he added.
