REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Social Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa said, child sexual exploitation victims, who were found recently by the National Police Crime Unit (Bareskrim), will continue with their education activities at school as before.

"There are three children that are still in school. Those who go to formal institutions will soon be relocated and they will be accompanied by social workers," said the Minister in Jakarta on Thursday (1/9).

She further explained that the parents of the three victims have been urged to move their children to other education institutions in order to keep them continue with their learning.

At the moment, seven of the victims have been taken to the Children Social Protection Center (RPSA) to undergo psychosocial therapy.

The therapy is being imparted to not only help them recover their psychological balance, but also to keep them from mistreating others once they are grown up.

Khofifah said such cases should be treated as a reminder for all parents to be more vigilant in educating and taking care of their children. Sexual abusers, she added, would go to any lengths to lure their victims, especially in the digital age where information can be obtained very quickly and easily.

In today's reality, children tend to possess hedonistic, imitative, and consumptive characters. Sexual predators are well aware of that and it becomes their window of opportunity.

The National Police Crime Unit (Bareskrim) had earlier arrested a suspect for child abuse and trafficking underage boys with the initials AR, H, and E.

The suspect had reportedly carried out his malicious acts through the internet and was arrested at a hotel in the Bogor area, West Java.

"The underage boys are traded in the gay community. They make their negotiations online, followed by a face-to-face meeting once they reach an agreement," said the Head of Bareskrim Irjen Ari Dono Sukamto.

The age of the children rescued ranged from 14 to 15 years, six of whom were students. AR reportedly made his customers pay 1.2 million rupiahs for each child.
