REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian and Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General M. Iriawan will monitor seven Polling Stations (TPS) during the second round of the Jakarta gubernatorial election on Wednesday. 

Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Chief Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono remarked that the seven TPS monitored by Karnavian and Iriawan are TPS-4 in the Gambir area where President Joko Widodo will vote, TPS Taman Suropati, TPS Rawasari, TPS-35 in Jatinegara, TPS-4 Luar Batang, TPS Pluit and TPS Kota Tua.

Argo said top police officers monitored the security situation at those TPS to ensure that the voting proceeds well and smoothly without any hindrance.

Incumbent governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and vice governor Djarot Syaiful Hidayat are competing against former education minister Anis Baswedan and businessman Sandiaga Uno, as his running mate, in the runoff election on Wednesday.

The police have deployed some 65 thousand personnel, including 20 thousand police officers and 15 thousand members of the military and civil defense forces, to ensure security in the city and smooth implementation of the election.
