REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi has stressed the importance of the "4+1 formula" implementation to the new Myanmar ambassador, Ei Ei Khin Aye, to settle the conflict in Rakhine, Myanmar.

The ambassador met Marsudi at the ministry here on Tuesday, after she ceded the letter of credential to President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace earlier in the day.

"Our meeting focused on Indonesians' concern on the current humanitarian crisis in Rakhine State, and I explained once again our proposal in 4 plus 1," Marsudi stated.

The four elements are reinstating stability and security; exercising maximum self-restraint and the use of non-violence; protecting everyone residing in Rakhine State, regardless of their ethnicity and religion; and opening up access for humanitarian assistance immediately.

The last element is the importance of promptly implementing the recommendations of the report by the Advisory Commission on Rakhine State chaired by Kofi Annan.

During the meeting, Marsudi has also explained results of her telephone communication with her Myanmar counterpart Kyaw Tin and Bangladesh foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali, regarding the humanitarian aid for Rohingya refugees.

In her meeting with Kyaw Tin, she confirmed that Myanmar has agreed to open the access for international aid immediately.

Therefore, the minister has asked Myanmar to prepare a list of goods, which are mostly needed by people in Rakhine, to be sent soon.

"I have conveyed to the ambassador to provide the list of necessities soon so that it would match their needs. It would not be optimum if our help does not match their needs," she remarked.

Indonesia would send the aid soon after it receives the list from Myanmar, she added.

"From Dhaka, we already have the list of goods, which are mostly needed, and Insya Allah (God willing), tomorrow we will send the aid to Bangladesh. If we can receive the list from Myanmar, hopefully we can send the aid soon," she revealed.
