REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo or known as Jokowi, and Chairman of Great Indonesia Party (Gerindra), Prabowo Subianto, have the biggest chance to become the next president for 2014-2019.
Advisor Board of Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Jeffrie Geovanie, said several interesting figures would compete neck and neck to become vice president for Jokowi and Subianto.
"The figures are Chairul Tanjung, Dahlan Iskan, Gita Wiryawan, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Mahfud MD, and Puan Maharani,'' Geovanie said on Monday in the press release.
A new survey also shows that Jokowi and Subianto top the survey of Presidential Candidate 2014. Researcher from Maarif Institute, Endang Tirtana, agreed by saying that during current situation when most figures were involved in corruption case, people needed firm alternative leaders. "People need an honest, fast responded leader who stand on side of people, just like Jokowi," Tirtana said.
He added that Jokowi and Subianto had creatice campaign in promoting their programs. They also have a clear target. However, the names of candidates are determined by party's policy and some other names.
"In this case, party should listen to people's demand and study the quality of the candidates if they want to win the election," Tirtana said.
