REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The deficit on Indonesian trade account reaches 170 million USD in January 2013 as a downward trend in exports continued.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) records that the total of Indonesian import in January 2013 reached 15.55 billion USD, rising by 0.22 percent (year on year) from the similar period in 2013, which was 14.55 billion USD.
Chairman of BPS, Suryamin, said on the press release on Friday that the total import of January 2013 consisted of 11.51 billion USD of non oil and gas import and 4.04 billion USD of oil and gas import.
Meanwhile, the total export in January 2013 dropped by 0.11 percent to 15.38 billion USD from 15.57 billion USD in January 2012. The total export in January 2013 consisted of 12.76 billion USD of non oil and gas export and 2.61 billion of oil and gas export.
The statistics also says the inflation in February 2013 reaches 0.75 percent and it is considered the highest inflation compared to the same periode (year over year) in the last ten years. Suryamin said that the high inflation caused by restriction on horticulture import and the policy drove the price increase.
