REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia state oil and gas company, Pertamina, increases its import from 9 million to 11 million barrels oil per month.
"The amount of import depends on the domestic condition and the decision made after we optimized the downstream industry," Director of Marketing and Trade of Pertamina, Hanung Budya, said on Thursday.
He explained that the amount of import would be decreased if fuel production cost in Pertamina refinery is lower. But, Pertamina will lower the domestic production if imported fuel is cheaper. Budya refused to elaborate the budget allocated for the import.
In December 2012, Pertamina subsidiary, Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral), imported 10.7 million barrel premium oil for January 2013. The purchase is beyond market prediction, which is only 2.2 million barrel. Petral also sought other 400,000 to 600,000 barrels.
